Fun walk on 2/20/11

A bunch of us got together and had a very nice time yesterday. There were 14 dogs and 13 people! All the dogs got along great and so did the people.
We stopped to take a group shot by some rocks and I think Dexter must have wandered off from there. I didn't notice he was gone until we had walked quite a ways more. It was very very scary and I was really worried about the little shit. I received a call from a women at the horse farm that is right next to where we park the cars. She had found Dexter running up and down the road. I am glad he headed back to the car when he was lost.

I would love to plan more of these walks as the weather gets nicer. It is a wonderful place to go and the dogs have a great time.

Daphne's big hunting trip

Daphne went on her first big hunting trip yesterday and she did great! She was one tired puppy when she was done! She spent much of the time trying to keep up with Olivia. Olivia had other things to think about though and she pretty much ignored the baby all day.

Daphne loved the Pheasants. They were quite large and she tried very hard to be able to pick it up and carry it. I think she will make a great hunting dog when she grows up a little.

All three Weimaraners were backing and honoring Olivia's point in this photo. I am very lucky that both Stella and Nina are natural backers. If a dog isn't a natural backer it can be very hard to teach it to them. Daphne did stop though and I really like to think she was honoring the point. She may have just stopped though :).

I really don't like killing the birds but it is so much fun to watch the dogs hunt and do what they were bred to do. It is amazing to watch them at a full run and all of a sudden stop on a dime and point. It is a really beautiful thing. Olivia found 7 birds! Byron got 6 of them. The last one he had a good shot at but he missed it.

Daphne is doing great! All the puppies are doing great, I really appreciate all the wonderful photos I am getting from my puppy owners. I love hearing how the babies are doing.

Everyone got their second shot and are ready to be big dogs now.

One thing that every puppy owner tells me is how smart their puppy is. I love all my smart babies!

He is so sweet and has this little face that just makes you smile. He is doing great with his potty training and is wonderful in his crate.

All the babies are doing great in their new homes. I love hearing how smart and wonderful they all are. Training seems to be very easy for the babies. Of course I love this :).

My sweet boy looks beautiful in his new yard! All the puppies are doing great and getting settled in their new homes. I am amazed at how quickly most of the puppies have taken to crate training. I just started crating both Daph and Sasha (Busy). Daph cried for a little bit but Sasha was very very quiet. I have never had it so easy with crate training :).

Meet Marie & Turk (Blue)

Turk is on his way to Montana! I was SO happy to finally meet Marie. It is hard to promise someone you have not met a puppy but I have just loved Marie since the first time we spoke on the phone. After meeting in person, I couldn't be happier for Turk! He is joining another Weimaraner, Clint and two Portuguese Water Dogs.

I am down to four babies in the house. Things are getting back to normal around here.

Byron and I took all 5 puppies out for some exercise with the big dogs. It was raining just a little when we got there and was pretty much a downpour by the time we left. I had 9 very wet dogs!

I am down to five puppies at home now. It is making clean up so much easier :). All five babies that are in their new homes are doing great! Crate training for everyone is going surprisingly well for everyone except Alex (Green Boy). Poor Crissy hasn't gotten much sleep the past few nights. I am hoping to hear that last night was much better. All the new owners are very happy with their babies and I love to hear how smart their puppies are.

I put together a crate next to my bed and got it all ready last night. Tonight I will cheat and put two puppies in it for the first night.

Red boy is going to be named either Puck or Ajax. He went to his new home this morning. His parents are Pete & Kate. He will also have two siblings to play with, Max and Elle.
Kate is a professional photographer so I expect a LOT of great photos of my beautiful puppy!

Only 5 babies are at home now. Next one to go will be Turk (Blue Boy). It is much easier to clean up after 5 but I really do miss my babies. I know I have said it before but I have really had so much fun with this litter of puppies and they are all such wonderful dogs.
Olivia is still fine with her babies leaving although she STILL is nursing the ones that are left!

Meet Finley!

Orange girl has a new name that I think fits her wonderfully! It's Finley! Finley went to her new home yesterday. Her parents are Zack and Sarah Hunter. Zack and Sarah have been waiting for a Weimaraner baby for a long time and were very excited to finally have her to take home.

She had a very good day yesterday and I am waiting to hear how the night went. I hope it well being in her crate for the first time alone.

Today Green boy and Orange boy goes home. Orange boy is going to be named Hoover and Green boy will be either Gunnar or Alex. More photos later.

The babies are all doing great! It is a little sad right now because Orange girl went to her new home this morning. She will have a wonderful home and be a very spoiled girl. It is a little hard though to see them go.

Yesterday was a very busy day, we left here at 2:30pm to go to the vet and we didn't get home until after 8pm. My vet is over a hour away and it took a very long time looking at 10 puppies. The puppies did great for it being such a long day and in crates most of the time.

All puppies got a clean bill of health and are all ready for their new homes. Tomorrow Orange and Green will go.

Puppies are all doing great! It is this coming weekend that a few of them will be going to their new homes, I think I wrote wrong information in a previous post.

The puppies are all so dirty! They roll around in dirt and have a great time. A few of them have pitch on them and I don't know how I am going to get it off them! If anyone has any ideas on anything that may work, please let me know.

They will all have their first bath before they go to their new homes.

Everyone goes in for their vet check on Friday afternon.

I am going to miss these little guys.

Rain sucks!

It is going to rain all day today and the puppies won't be able to be outside. That is going to be hard! It has been so nice to have them out most of the day.

The puppies had their temperament test yesterday and everything went well. Like I thought, all the puppies were 3 or 4's which make them all nice family dogs and which is what most Weims are. A copy of the test will go home with all of them.

When Noa was visiting we went to visit my friend Laurie that was in the horrible car accident. Laurie is still in a coma. We brought red boy with us and Laurie's husband Steve was happy we brought him. Laurie's sister in law took red boy and put him on the bed next to Laurie. I know she would love that. He is already a little therapy dog!

Today we do the babies official temperament test. I already know what each puppies temperament is but this is a series of test put together to predict adult behavior.

Olivia is STILL nursing the puppies. I really wish she would start getting tired of them soon, I think it is going to be very hard for her when the puppies go to their new homes.

The babies let me sleep until 6am this morning! They were outside most of the day yesterday and were very tired when we brought them inside about 9pm.

It has been a very quick and busy couple of days. My friend Noa came from California and she really helped me look at the puppies and evaluate them. I have a pretty good idea where everyone is going. I can't believe they are going to start going home next weekend. We also played agility games and all the puppies did great, not one of them is shy or reserved.

Noa is an amazing trainer and whenever I spend time with her, I am very motivated to train my dogs and teach them many new things. In just a few hours, she had Olivia weaving through her legs. One of the things she does is never give the dogs cookies or treats unless they do a trick or something she asks. I think it is great advice for training the babies. My dogs are also fat and they are ALL on a diet :).

I have two people flying in to get their puppies this weekend. The past 7 weeks have flown by so quickly. I have had so much fun with this litter, they are all such wonderful babies. I am excited for everyone that is getting a puppy.

So You Think You Want a High Drive Puppy

Not a Weimaraner but I really liked this video and think anyone getting a puppy, especially a Weimaraner should watch this.

My puppies don't have near this drive but they have more then the average Lab or Golden.

SO many people get Weimaraners and don't have a clue to what type of exercise and attention they are going to need. That's why so many end up in rescue.
